As I am preparing to write out a little final report for the AOMG mini project. I wanted to test out how it would look for a group. To be honest, it is a lot. However, you can view the SEVENTEEN Network Graph here. If you click on a node it gives you some information such as the sub-units they are apart of and it highlights the member and shows only the ones they edges that are connected to that member in some capacity. If you select an artist that is not within the group SEVENTEEN, you will see the nodes they are connected with. It is definitely a work in progress for sure.

With that, let’s get into some of the finer details.

EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis)

For those that do not know, SEVENTEEN is a kpop boy group under Pledis/Hybe. The group consists of 13 men and 3 sub units (13 members + 3 sub units + 1 team = 17). Although they have the official 3 units (Hip Hop, Performance, and Vocal) they also perform in other special sub units such as BSS and HxW to list a few. Of the 13 members, two are from the U.S.A (Joshua and Vernon), two are from China (Jun and The8) and the rest are from Korea (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Dino)

They are sometimes divided and commonly listed by order of age. 95z and 96z are usually referred to as the Hyung Line. The Maknaes will sometimes include 97z, but usually refer to Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. Lastly, The8 is usually placed before Mingyu so that The8 is in the ‘8th’ spot since 8 is a special number for him.

There have released 5 full albums the most recent being Happy Burstday and 14 mini albums. Some special albums include their Japanese albums (which includes some of their songs in Japanese). They also have at least one Chinese version of a song performed by Jun and The8 (My I). Alongside their group songs, some have their own solo careers such as Jun, The8, Hoshi, Vernon, and Dino. They also perform in sub units and various other projects including for OST. For instance, Jun (my ult bias) acted in Exclusive Fairy Tale, where he plays the male lead, he sings the OST for that drama. The8 has also sang for an OST for multiple Chinese dramas. Several have performed in OST for Korean dramas, and various projects.

Their 5th album, Happy Burstday, celebrated 10 year anniversary, in fact! It came out the May 26, 2025, exactly 10 years from when they debuted.

As a group SEVENTEEN has over 100 songs in their discography. The following graph depicts the number of songs they released as SEVENTEEN compared to their solo work, various projects, OSTs, or if in special subunits: BSS, HxW, or JxW.

Network

For the purpose of this one, it will be shown as an undirected network. This is for simplicity as I tried to include the songs that they are featured on and listed as first. The goal with the network was to just see their connections between themselves and who they are connected with.

The following table depicts the number of connections each member has to people not within SEVENTEEN. Jun has the least amount, that is all four people that he is connected to, he shares with the other SEVENTEEN members as those four people are included in a SEVENTEEN song (except Shingo Katori, who sings BETTING and SEVENTEEN is featured on that song). Vernon has the most connections, followed by The8 and DK

So since Vernon and The8 have the highest connections outside of SEVENTEEN (in terms of songs) we can also check by looking at their betweenness and closeness measures. People with high betweenness just means that those people act like a bridge between others. Or like it can be how much influence that node (or person) has on that network. So Vernon has a betweenness value of 804.0541 whereas The8 has a betweenness value of 477.4615. Similarly, closeness measures how central a node is within a network. The higher the value, the closer those people are to the network. With that, the people with the highest closeness include Shingo Katori, Anne-Marie, DJ Khaled, and Pharrell Williams all with a value of 0.0095. This makes sense since they are all connected to each member of SEVENTEEN. Within SEVENTEEN, Vernon with a measures of 0.0082 and The8 with a measure of 0.0072 have the highest within the members. Thus this implies that Vernon and The8 are more connected and potentially drawing the bridge between SEVENTEEN members and other people.

Notably, it should be understood that although this is SOLELY based on their music. SEVENTEEN also has connections through various brand deals, participate in fashion shows, various interviews and game shows, music festivals and award shows, as well as other major events such as participating with UNESCO and the MET Gala just to list a few. So, although right now the data shows one thing, we would still need to account for those that produced and wrote the songs (Woozi produces most if not all of the songs) but he also works with other producers/artists such as BUMZU. Seungkwan used to do a lot of MC work helping to promote SEVENTEEN. Jun has worked with various actors and actresses (He literally will be in a movie, The Shadow’s Edge, with Jackie Chan which is released August 16th, 2025).
